PG AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Zoology was established with B.Sc., & M. Sc., programme in the year of 2005 and M.Phil., in the year of 2007 followed by Ph.D., was started in year of 2016. The department is equipped with two laboratories with advanced instruments, well furnished classrooms and smart class room for better learning environment for students. Highly qualified faculty members of the department are actively involved in teaching as well as research. Zoology is a foundation stone for the modern biological sciences such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Genetic Engineering, etc.

Zoologists work outdoors in the field and in the laboratories using a wide variety of scientific equipments. Some zoologists conduct field research in remote areas and harsh climates, which can involve strenuous physical activity and primitive living organisms. The curriculum also includes project work both UG and PG Zoology. We offer ‘Sericulture’ as extra disciplinary course, certificate course for Ornamental fisheries and Apiculture. Research programmes (M.Phil., & Ph.D.,) department is one of the most pursued.
