ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mathematics was started as one of the earliest Departments in Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for women (Autonomous). B.Sc., and M.Sc., Mathematics programs were started in the year 2000 and 2002 respectively. Later, the Department was elevated into a research Department by offering M.Phil program in the year 2012.The Department has highly qualified faculty members actively engaged in teaching and research. The main objective of the Department is to advance the students’ knowledge in diverse areas of Mathematics and support current progress in science thereby providing a platform for them to celebrate success in every sphere of their lives. The programme provides the fundamental principles of mathematics integrated with open source softwares which enhance the various skills and employability of the students. The curriculum includes Hands on Trainings, inter disciplinary group projects and field works.
