ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 1995 with an undergraduate program (B.Sc. Biotechnology) followed by M.Sc. Biotechnology in 1999 and established the research program providing M.Phil. and Ph.D. (FT/PT) from 2002 onwards. The Department has 263 students (217 Undergraduate, 46 Post graduate, 1 M.Phil. and 6 Ph.D. students) with 11 well qualified faculty members devoted in enriching the knowledge and wisdom of the students. The Department has well furnished class rooms, highly equipped laboratory with sophisticated instrumentation and separate Biosciences library with e-books and digital library facilities. As of now 14 Ph.D. scholars successfully completed their doctoral degree and 2 scholars are yet to submit their thesis.

• To evolve into centre of excellence in acquiring knowledge and skill in handing students with biology based sustainable technology for all human (Food, Fodder and Shelter) and his environment issues.

• To ensure students to acquire advanced knowledge in biotechnology for human welfare.
• To encourage students in converting knowledge into skill through effective practices, exopsure to research institutions, Industries, etc.
• To create platform for students to interact with eminent, scientist, researchers and industries of Biotechnology towards their personality development
• To inculcate research attitude to students in biotechnological aspects for future sustainable development
• To evolve entrepreneurship skill among the students in evolving biotechnology based industry.
