CENTRE FOR BIODIVERSITY

The Vivekananda College of Arts & Sciences for Women (VICAS), has established the CENTRE for Biodiversity (CB) in 2016 to carry out scientific research and disseminate findings and knowledge as educational resource, with a specific focus on Tamil Nadu. Since its inception, the Centre is continuously involved in organizing and conducting numerous Training Programmes, Workshops, Refresher Courses and Science Academies Lecture Series. The participants have invariably been next generation researchers, faculties, scientists, students and members of civil society organizations. Till date the Centre has conducted three Training Programmes, two Science Academies Workshops and one Refresher Course, and one Student Project Scheme. Financial support for the activities have been from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India, the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc., Bengaluru), the Indian National Science Academy (INSA, New Delhi) and the National Academy of Sciences (NASI, Allahabad), the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), Chennai and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Chennai.
