About the Department

PG Department of Management studies was established in the year 2009 with 57 students and 3 staff members with the aim to offer enriching learning experiences to aspiring young women managers and to ensure that they serve as agents of continuous improvement and change. At present the department has 124 MBA students (70 First MBA and 54 Second years MBA) and 8 learned faculty members. As it is functioning under Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women, an Autonomous Institution and Affiliated with Periyar University, Salem, and the department has also been rated and recognized with respect to faculty, facilities, curricula and academic programme, and administrative system.

Curriculum Structure

The curriculum lays the foundation for a conceptual and analytical understanding of Indian and international business. MBA at VICAS is designed to closely integrate current management theory and practice. The course imparts knowledge and fosters attitudes essential for the growth of students into competent, responsible managers. The course has evolving programme content and is constantly updated to be in tune with the emerging trends.

Facilities

Class Room

The classrooms in MBA create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and nurture the quest for knowledge that the students possess. The class rooms offer a flexible seating arrangement whereas that can be arranged in an ad-hoc fashion to facilitate more interaction among the students and faculty members. All classrooms are equipped with all modern teaching aids such as Black board, Fan, Light facility and with good aeration and LCD projectors with screens.

Staff Room

To ensure best organizational behavior among the faculty members the department has truly unique workplace that encourages innovation and a healthy disregard for the impossible.

Library

With the aim to cater to the information needs of our faculty, Research Scholars, Students and its other Members, the department has its library which houses important books, journals of various functional areas of management for learning purpose.

Computer Lab

The computing resources at VICAS MBA department include latest servers and workstations, a state-of-the-art campus network and other software.

Conference Hall

The MBA department has a conference hall which helps the budding managers to discuss among themselves and design the student associations’ events. It also play a place for Group Discussions.

Seminar Hall

The department has one state-of-the-art Seminar Hall which is fully air-conditioned. The Small seminar hall a seating capacity for about 600 people. This seminar hall plays host to internal student events, guest lectures and seminars, and the famed MBA Students association activities.

Communication Lab

Communication lab at MBA has state-of-the-art information technology tools that are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of the MBA students that aims to facilitate industry-academia interface.
