Department of Business Administration

About the Department

Department of Business Administration was established with BBA Course during 2004-2005 and BBA CA during 2007-2008. The aim of the department is to create enhanced competence of career positioning tied up with opportunity to become a global business and management professionals. The program expects a serious commitment of the student to take up challenging study schedule and assignments. The course involves a blend of theoretical education and practical training which run concurrently for a period of three years and equips the student knowledge, ability, skills and other qualities required for professional executives.

The uniqueness of the program is its content and topic coverage, the teaching methodology and the faculty. The syllabus has been designed at a level equal to that of professional courses. The teaching methodologies include class room lectures, Industrial visits, Orientation, Internship, Case study and Research Work. Focus is also developing soft skills of the students. For Core subjects, Outsource guest lectures by industrialists and Professional Men will be arranged to enable the students to get wider Exposure offer enriching learning experiences to aspiring young women. Students joining in this program can also enroll for anyone of the Professional courses offered like MBA, MIBA etc… At present the department has 88 I UG students, 46 II UG students and 143 III UG students of BBA & BBA (CA) courses and 6 learned faculty members. As it is functioning under Vivekanandha College of Arts and Sciences for Women, an Autonomous Institution and Affiliated with Periyar University, Salem, and the department has also been rated and recognized with respect to faculty, facilities, curricula and academic programme, and administrative system.

  • Project work is included in the syllabus to enhance conceptual, analytical & deductive skills.

Eligibility

All the candidates who have qualified with the following examinations are exempted from the production of eligibility certificate from Periyar University at the time of admission.

  • Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary course (+2) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Activities

Extension Activities

The students of BBA and BBA CA were taken to nearby village and counseled about hygienic living and the preventing methods of keeping themselves away from various diseases. The importance of forestation was given to the villagers by the students.

Association Activities

The association named CURA was formed for the betterment of growth in academic and socio cultural activities .It is the motto of the department that a student should not be meritorious in education but she has to psychologically and physically develop herself to meet all the changes in the society.

In this year the association conducted 20 activities to enrich the cultural ethics of the students. Totally 500 students participated in all the cultural events and 150 students won the prizes.

Other Activities

The department conducted guest lectures on ACA career awareness program and motivational development program.

The department also conducted motivational programs for the first years as the phase of induction on goal setting , Life is Precious. This program was imparted to video clippings and Ppt Presentation.

International Conference

The International conference was organized on innovative practices in contemporary business scenario in association with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India on 26.2.2015.

EDP

The department conducted an EDP program known as Terracotta jewel making to inspire the interest of the students in Entrepreneurship.

Women Development Cell

The college is having a separate cell for the growth and welfare of students, various awareness program was conducted by the medical practitioner to create awareness on women’s problem and other related issues.

Our department had organized 4 Industrial visits and 3 Educational tour to gain knowledge about the industries.
